Cumulative Updates – SQL Server 2012 SP2 CU1

As part of their Incremental Service Modelling, Microsoft have released SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 Cumulative Update 1!

In my article about SQL Server 2012 SP2 I shared a post about a bug that was not fixed in SQL 2012 SP2 which was in earlier versions. SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 is available – but there’s a catch! Full credit goes to Aaron Bertrand for posting the information.

Service Pack 2 CU#1 can be applied to any of the following Microsoft SQL Server 2012 editions:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Enterprise
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Developer
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Business Intelligence
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Web
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express

The build number of the cumulative update package is 11.0.5532.0. So you must be running SQL Server 2012 SP2. You may have to restart the computer after you apply this cumulative update package.

There are a total of 55 fixes, the highlights for me being:

2961254 FIX: The execution of an MDX query in SSAS 2012 or SSAS 2014 is much slower than it is in SSAS 2008 R2

2969896 FIX: Data corruption occurs in clustered index when you run online index rebuild in SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2014
